Modern, Traditional, Authentic Martial Arts
White Pheonix is a traditional based, but modern and effective gōngfū (kung fu) system. Our roots trace back to around 1644 with a Shaolin warrior monk named Ming Guan, who created an advanced hybrid master style. This was a tumultuous time of warfare in China, and the system was meant to be an effective tool for self defense. Generations of practitioners went on to use it to defend themselves and their nation in war. Over time, masters expanded, updated, and refined the system to the present day. This is to keep it maximally effective, relevant, and advanced. We focus on being an effective and authentic fighting system. We insist that our practitioners really know how to use their skills in the real world.

How Does the Online Academy Work?
With a subscription of $29.95 per month, or $299 per year, you get access to high quality instructional videos and documents produced by White Pheonix Grandmaster Joel Castillo. You will study the full White Pheonix curriculum, in all its applications, just like in-person students. You will also gain access to the White Pheonix Online Community, where you can meet and collaborate with other online students. These resources will be available to you through the web app online, which is optimized for desktop, tablet, or smart-phone, and through the Kajabi mobile app on your apple or android smart-phone. (Kajabi is a well known teaching platform we have partnered with to provide a high quality online learning experience.)
How Can I Progress Through the White Phéonix System with the Online Academy?
The full forms, exercises, and movement applications, will be taught to you through the Online Academy lessons. It will then be up to you to practice these lessons, which includes forms and exercises that are often trained individually, as well as applications and exercises which will eventually require a training partner. For training partners - recruit your friends, see who lives nearby in the White Pheonix online community, or seek out the martial arts community at large. Beginning lessons will all be available to you immediately upon subscribing. Later lessons will be unlocked for you as your time as an online member increases. This is for your benefit, as you need time to focus on the lessons that are appropriate for your skill level in the White Pheonix System (just like in-person students).
White Phéonix Rank Sash Levels and Personalized Instruction
To achieve rank sash levels in the White Pheonix System, you must test with a certified instructor. Online Academy students may test online up through Blue Sash, but for more advanced sashes, it must be an in-person test, just like in-person students. Testing involves demonstrating mastery of the forms, exercises, and applications, of all the material up to that sash level. Testing will require a testing fee, the amount of which will depend on the level and method of testing. If you desire to test, or you want to ensure you are learning correctly, you will also want to consider personalized online or in-person training prior to testing. This ensures that you are ready to be successful on testing day, or ready to use what you've been learning in real life! As the White Pheonix Online Academy grows, so will our offerings for personalized online or in-person instruction, in-person seminars, and testing.
